The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating a wide range of cases from burglary to child abuse, sexual assault and homicide. They work closely with investigators from other local, state and federal agencies. Investigators also work on a daily basis with the CNET Drug Task Force involving drug crimes.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Office are professionally trained and are required to meet strict qualifications beyond the regular training requirements of a Sheriff's Deputy. These qualifications include:
- Certified Crime Scene Investigators (Level I, II, III, and advanced crime scene investigation)
- Reed School of Interview and Interrogation (or equivalent)
- Certification as a criminal investigator from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institution (or equivalent)
- Child Abuse Investigation Training
